Professor Ife Adewumi is the visionary founder of GEMS Group, a private conglomerate for sustainable environment, production, and consumer services. He is a distinguished academic, entrepreneur, and charitable individual with decades of experience in academia and business.

Professor Adewumi is a renowned environmental scientist and engineer, with a passion for promoting sustainable development in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. He has been involved in several research projects and initiatives aimed at mitigating environmental degradation and promoting the efficient use of resources.

As an entrepreneur, Professor Adewumi has founded several successful businesses in Nigeria, including Green Engineering Manufacturing and Services Ltd (GEMSL) and Green Gold Global Technologies Nig Ltd, both of which focus on developing innovative solutions for environmental sustainability.

In addition to his academic and entrepreneurial pursuits, Professor Adewumi is also a committed philanthropist, and has dedicated a significant portion of his life to empowering youth and women in Nigeria. He is the founder of the Greener Environment and Materials Sustainability Initiative (GEMSi), a non-governmental organization that advocates for environmental protection and organizes workshops and conferences on sustainability.

Through his leadership and commitment to accountability, and integrity and equity, Professor Adewumi has earned numerous accolades and awards. His most valued collection was the Award by the Independent and  related Financial Crimes Constitution (EFCC)’s Award for Integrity following his fight against illegal conversion of part of OAU Staff Salaries to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) when he led all workers to press for stoppage of the deductions. The University paid back part of the money to all staff in 2011. His passion for innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility continue to inspire and guide the GEMS Group’s mission and vision.
